CONDOLENCES & THOUGHTS ABOUT REGINALD'S EXECUTION

I, an Austrian handicapped citizen in a wheelchair, living in Vienna , had written the following mail to the Governor of Texas in favour of Reginald Blanton:

Dear Gov. Rick Perry,

After reviewing the case of Reginald Blanton, I, an Austrian citizen, believe him to be an innocent man who did not receive a fair trial. I am asking that this case be looked over, and a new trial be presented to assure that he receives justice. If the state of Texas goes through with his scheduled execution on October 27th, another innocent person will have been executed.

Please stop the execution of this innocent black citizen of your country!

Sincerely.

Heinz Leitner

Today, I have got the news that Reginald Blanton had been executed, and the state of Texas did not show clemency.

Tears are forming in my eyes.

On centre, an crie, Man tritt ein, man schreit, One enters, one cries

C’est la vie. Das ist das Leben. That is life.

On crie, an sort, Man schreit,man tritt hinaus, One cries, one departs

C’est la mort Das ist der Tod. That is death.

(Ausone de Chancel)

Between the cries we must try to become human beings. Fighting the death penalty in showing solidarity with our sisters and brothers on the death row: trying to become human beings between these cries. We must stop the cries caused by ourselves to become human beings. We must keep on convincing our fellow citizens, wherever we are, that the death penalty is inhumane in a civilized society.

If it is possible, please tell Reginald’s mother and his family that I am thinking of them. I know this will not console them.

Warm regards from Vienna in Austria.

Heinz

Hey

Im a guy from Denmark who by coinsedence stumpled upon Reginald Blanton. I read his case and thought that something didnt seem quite right. I was in no position to claim whether Reginald was guilty or not but i didnt think the mans trial was fair. I wrote to the guy in charge of things, Rick Perry i think, and tried to make him grant Reginalds appeal. Even though i was thousands of miles appart of Reginald i still felt a strong bond. Not just to him but also every man in the world who is stuck on deathrow. I do not feel that we are to decide who deserves to live an die and therefore i am against death penalty. At the time of Reginalds execution i decide to play two songs (im a guitarist) i play the song by Townes van Zandt, waiting around to die, and also i song i Wrote my self. The song is called Texas Deathrow Hotel and is based on a letter by Lonnie Johnson, former Deathrow inmate. I dont know if you can use it for anything but thought i would send it.

Here it comes.

I am staying, in a Texas luxury hotel, a place to die for;

The room is 1,6 by 2,4, with bars for a door, nothing else to ask for;

What a luxury hotel, its cheap aswell, the price is the same,

no matter how long you are staying,

you dont have to worry, everythings arranged,

you will be leaving some day, through the pearly gates;

Cant complain of comfort, got a metal bunk to lie on,

a sink and a toilet too, it only lacks the ocean view,

and we got television, 10 feet away,

we can watch it through the bars of our cells,

3 hours everyday;

What a luxury hotel, its cheap aswell, the price is the same,

no matter how long you are staying,

you dont have to worry, everythings arranged,

you will be leaving some day, through the pearly gates;

Breakfast served in nighttime, better leave those dreams behind;

Get up or stay down, roomservice wont wait around;

3 meals a day, served cold and questionable;

something to get used to, Dinner is served in the afternoon;

What a luxury hotel, its cheap aswell, the price is the same,

no matter how long you are staying,

you dont have to worry, everythings arranged,

you will be leaving some day, through the pearly gates;

I admire all of you that you can withstand this abuse against human rights. No matter what you did you dont deserve this constant abuse. Death penalty is wrong and if these people of congress call them self true christians they should not play god with oher peoples lifes.

Hang on in there, dont let these vultures of the government put chains on you minds. Keep fighting the just causes of people like Reginald Blanton.

Good people all around the world become criminals because of a government who fail to help every man of society on their feet. I dont know if you can use any of this but feel free to use the song in any way you like.

Sincerely,

Mikkel M. from Denmark

Mr Blantons execution was a disgrace. People have got to stop this state murdering the young, the poor, the minorities all to make corrupt people richer. Justice officials lie then these men die only the people can stop these outrages. Stop standing idle motivate and activate to stop these executions. Mr Blanton may you R.I.P.

Kind regards

Yvette Holden
